OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental — The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental is intensifying preparations for the transition of services to the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center (AMOMC), as the province moves closer to opening its new provincial medical facility..

On May 21, Governor Henry S. Oaminal convened provincial department heads, hospital chiefs, medical personnel and AMOMC consultants to assess the facility’s readiness and strengthen plans for transferring services from the Misamis Occidental Provincial Hospital (MOPH) to the new medical center.

The meeting focused on key requirements for the transition, including staffing, medical equipment, facility operations, and other logistical needs necessary to maintain continuity of patient care.

Officials also reviewed the plans against the requirements of the DOH Regulation, Licensing, and Enforcement Division (RLED) and PhilHealth to ensure that the new facility meets regulatory and accreditation standards before operations begin.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Holly Tago acknowledged that transferring services from the existing provincial hospital to AMOMC will involve significant operational and structural adjustments. She emphasized the importance of identifying deficiencies early and addressing them decisively to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare workers throughout the transition.

For Oaminal, the transition to AMOMC should ultimately be guided by the needs of Misamisnons. He emphasized that decisions involving manpower, equipment, materials, and hospital operations must consider how they will affect patients and families who depend on the province’s healthcare services.

The governor also called on hospital officials and personnel to accelerate preparations and address remaining gaps as the province moves toward the operationalization of the new medical center.

The transition from MOPH to AMOMC is expected to require coordination across multiple departments and healthcare services to ensure that patients continue to receive care without disruption.

As preparations continue, provincial officials said the priority remains ensuring that AMOMC is adequately staffed, equipped, and compliant with regulatory requirements before it begins full operations.
