JIMENEZ, Misamis Occidental — The provincial government of Misamis Occidental, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has begun the rollout of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Program, providing assistance to vulnerable and low-income households across the province.
The first batch of beneficiaries received assistance during a distribution activity held at the Jimenez Gymnasium on August 10, benefiting 1,359 individuals from the vulnerable sectors of Jimenez and Panaon.
Under the program, qualified beneficiaries will receive P2,000 in cash and five kilograms of rice every month until December.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal, who led the provincial government’s participation in the rollout, said the initiative is part of efforts to bring national government assistance closer to communities and help families cope with the continuing energy and economic challenges.
Oaminal said addressing the immediate needs of Misamisnons is essential to the provincial government’s goal of realizing its 5Ms vision of a peaceful, progressive, and happy Misamisnon community, particularly amid the pressures brought by the global crisis.
The distribution was attended by Jimenez Mayor Joselito Chiong, Panaon Mayor Francisco Paylaga Jr., members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and other local government officials.
The UPLIFT rollout is scheduled to continue until September, with the program set to reach vulnerable sectors in all municipalities and cities of Misamis Occidental.
