Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental — The municipality of Sapang Dalaga has opened its new Integrated Bus Terminal and Public Market, providing residents with a centralized facility for transportation, trade, and commerce.
The facility was formally inaugurated and blessed on Aug. 21 as part of the municipality’s 69th Araw sa Sapang Dalaga celebration, with Most Rev. Martin S. Jumoad of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz leading the blessing.
The new terminal and public market are expected to improve the movement of commuters and goods while providing additional spaces for vendors and businesses, supporting economic activity in the municipality.
For Mayor Dawn Animas, the opening represents an opportunity for Sapang Dalaga to strengthen local commerce and create a more accessible space for residents and businesses.
The project has been in development since 2019 and went through several challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, a legal dispute involving the donated property, and the government and financing processes required for its completion.
Vice Mayor Donjie Animas said completing a project of this scale required time and coordination among the different institutions involved.
The facility was completed through partnerships involving the Development Bank of the Philippines, the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental under Governor Henry S. Oaminal, and members of Congress, including Asenso Pinoy Representative Indy Oaminal and First District Representative Jason Almonte.
Almonte underscored the importance of sustaining the efforts and partnerships that support development projects benefiting communities.
